He’s an Australian comedian, actor, author, satirist, film producer, scriptwriter, star of London’s West End musical theatre, writer, and landscape painter.

He developed a love for entertainment at a younger age and has been consistent throughout his career rising through the ranks to become one of the most sought-after acts.

Humphries is best known for writing and playing his on-stage and television alter egos, Dame Edna Everage and Sir Les Patterson

Humphries’ characters have brought him international renown, and he also appeared in numerous stage productions, films, and television shows.

His other satirical characters include the “priapic and inebriated cultural attaché” Sir Les Patterson, who has “continued to bring worldwide discredit upon Australian arts and culture.

On Wednesday, 19 April 2023, Barry Humphries hit the headlines when it was reported that he has been hospitalized following a ‘serious’ health setback.

The renowned Australian comedian had been in hospital in Sydney after suffering complications following hip surgery in March. He had a fall in February.

Humphries was readmitted to St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney on Wednesday, April 19 and Entertainment reporter Peter Ford says he’s been told: “Things are very serious with Barry’s health”.

Sadly, Barry Humphries has died. He passed away on Saturday, April 22 at St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney in Darlinghurst, Australia.
