Barcelona Defender Gerard Pique Splits With Popstar Shakira After Cheating Scandal

Gerard Pique met the popstar after performing in her music video for Waka Waka, the official song of the 2010 World Cup.

Pique and Shakira have been together since 2011 and their relationship produced two sons, but after more than a decade of dating, they yet to officially tie the wedding.

“We regret to confirm that we are separating,” Pique and Shakira revealed in a statement.

“For the well-being of our children, who are our top priority, we are asking for respect for their privacy. Thank you for your understanding,” the statement added.

This development comes just over a week after a Barcelona court dismissed Shakira’s appeal, bringing her closer to facing tax fraud charges in Spain.

According to the Spanish newspaper El Periodico, Shakira caught Pique red-handed having an affair with another lady.

According to the article, the two have agreed to live separately, with the Barcelona defender has been alone in his home for weeks.
