Are Megan Rapinoe and Rachel Rapinoe Twins?: Megan Rapinoe, officially known as Megan Anna Rapinoe is an American professional soccer player.

She developed a passion for playing soccer at a younger age, has been consistent throughout her career, and has risen through the ranks to become one of the most sought-after American soccer players.

As of Sunday, July 9, 2023, Rapinoe plays as a winger for OL Reign of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), as well as the United States national team.

Known for her crafty style of play, she’s the first player to score a goal directly from a corner at the Olympic Games, having done so twice.

Rapinoe played for the women’s national team at the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup where the U.S. finished in second place

She won gold with the team at the 2012 London Summer Olympics, the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup, and the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

During the 2012 London Olympics, she scored three goals and tallied a team-high four assists to lead the team to a gold medal

Rapinoe has had a stint with the Chicago Red Stars, Philadelphia Independence, and MagicJack in Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS).

She also played for Olympique Lyon in France’s Division 1 Féminine. A winner of the Ballon d’Or Féminin and was named The Best FIFA Women’s Player in 2019.

In 2022, Rapinoe became the first football player to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

In July 2023, the USA and OL Reign forward hit major headlines following her decision to retire at the end of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) season.

The 2019 Ballon d’Or winner, Rapinoe made the announcement ahead of USA’s friendly against Wales today, Sunday, July 9, 2023.

Rapinoe is currently preparing to compete for the USA at the Women’s World Cup, which starts this month (July) in Australia and New Zealand.

The USA begin their 2023 World Cup campaign on July 22 against Vietnam before facing the Netherlands and Portugal in Group E.
