She developed a love for entertainment at an early age and has been consistent throughout her career. In the early 1990s, Amy Poehler studied improv at Chicago’s Second City and ImprovOlympic.

After her studies, she co-founded the improvisational-comedy troupe Upright Citizens Brigade. In 1996, the group moved to New York City where their act became a half-hour sketch-comedy series on Comedy Central in 1998.

In 2001, Poehler was cast to be part of the NBC sketch-comedy show, Saturday Night Live. She became co-anchor of SNL’s Weekend Update in 2004 until she left the series in 2008 to star as Leslie Knope in the sitcom Parks and Recreation.

Poehler has starred, written, produced, executive produced, and directed several films and television series including; Welcome to Sweden, Broad City, Difficult People, Duncanville, Three Busy Debras, and Russian Doll, among several others.

She also provided voice acting roles for the animated films Shrek the Third, Horton Hears a Who!, Monsters vs. Aliens, Hoodwinked Too, Hood vs. Evil, Free Birds, and Inside Out.

Poehler has received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for her contributions to television. Due to dedication and consistency, she has risen through the ranks to be one of the most sought-after acts in the entertainment space.
