All You Need To Know About Jovenel Moise, Wife & Children He Left Behind

Jovenel Moïse was a Haitian entrepreneur and politician who served as the 58th President of Haiti from 2017 until his assassination in 2021.

Final official results had shown him as the winner of the November 2016 election. In 2019, political unrest and calls for his resignation became a crisis. Jovenel Moïse was born in Trou Du Nord-Est Haiti, on 26 June 1968.

In 2015, President Michael Martelly designated Moïse as the presidential candidate of the political party Martelly founded, the center-right. Moïse received 32.8% of the votes in the first round of the 2015 elections held on 15 October 2015, qualifying for a run-off with the second-place finisher Jude Celestin. Moïse secured the presidency without having to compete in a second-round election.

In 1996, he married his classmate Martine Marie Moise and they had three children together. They are  Joverlein Moïse, Jomarlie Moïse and Jovenel Moise Junior.

On 7 July 2021, Moïse was killed when unidentified gunmen attacked his residence while his wife Martine Marie Moise was hospitalized for wounds sustained during the attack.
