Hubert earned a Criminal Justice degree from the University of North Carolina in 1992.
The New York Knicks selected Hubert with the 20th overall pick in the 1992 NBA draft. He played four seasons for the Knicks before being dealt to the Toronto Raptors. After one season in Toronto, he was traded to the Dallas Mavericks, where he played for four seasons before being traded to the Washington Wizards prior of the 2001-2002 season.
