Aaron Mooy Nationality And Ethnicity: Aaron Mooy, officially known as Aaron Frank Mooy is an Australian former professional footballer who played as a midfielder.

He developed a passion for playing football at a younger age, has been consistent throughout his career, and has risen through the ranks to become one of the most sought-after Australian footballers.

Growing up, Mooy played youth football for the New South Wales Institute of Sport and Bolton Wanderers before making his professional debut with St Mirren.

Following his professional debut with St Mirren, he returned to Sydney to play for Western Sydney Wanderers in 2012, before moving to Melbourne City in 2014.

In June 2016, Mooy was signed by Manchester City on a three-year deal and was loaned to Huddersfield Town for the 2016–17 season helping the club gain promotion to the Premier League.

In June 2017, it was reported that Huddersfield Town had agreed on a fee with Manchester City to sign Mooy permanently.

In August 2019, Mooy was signed permanently by Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion before moving to Shanghai SIPG in China in August 2020.

In July 2022, he joined Celtic on a two-year deal making his official debut for Celtic in their opening matchday of the 2022–23 Scottish Premiership season against Aberdeen.

On Tuesday, 6 September 2022, Mooy made his UEFA Champions League debut in a 3–0 home defeat against Real Madrid.

In December 2022, he scored his first goal and brace for Celtic against Hibernian at Easter Road in a 4–0 away victory.

Internationally, Mooy was eligible to represent either Germany or the Netherlands. He made 10 appearances for the Young Socceroos (under-20) between 2008 and 2009.

He played at the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup and played in two group-stage games before Australia was eliminated

In August 2009, Mooy earned a called up to the senior Australian side, for a friendly match against the Republic of Ireland.

In 2011, he declared his desire to play for Australia at the 2012 Summer Olympics but they were unsuccessful during the qualifying campaign for London 2012.

In December 2012, he made his international debut with the Socceroos and in May 2018 he was named in Australia’s 23-man squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

In November 2022, Mooy was named in Australia’s squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. He was capped by the national team on over 50 occasions since his debut in 2012.

In June 2023, the Celtic and Australian midfielder, Aaron Mooy hit major headlines after he announced his retirement from international and club football with immediate effect.

The former English Premier League midfielder, Mooy, 32, earned 57 caps and scored seven goals for Australia between 2012 and 2022, appearing at two World Cups.
